BFI AWARD FOR DARLING!
The award of £2,000 was presented to the film’s director, Julian Shaw, at at the main screening of the film in the BFI LLGFF by CHE’s Vice-President, the Broadcaster, Television Reporter and Gay Rights Campaigner Ray Gosling.
GLOBAL AWARDS POUR IN FOR DARLING!
Accolades continue to fall upon Darling! The Pieter-Dirk Uys Story globally. The feature documentary has captured the Audience Award at the Hamburg International GLBT Film Festival, the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at The Lisbon International GLBT Film Festival, and both the Special Jury Mention and Audience Award at the Torino International GLBT Film Festival, the largest Gay and Lesbian festival in Europe.
DARLING! SCORES WITH AUDIENCES AT THE WORLD’S LARGEST FILM FESTIVAL
February 18, 2008: Filmmaker Julian Shaw achieved international acclaim at the Berlin International Film Festival last night, with his documentary film Darling! awarded second place in the Panorama Audience Awards. The 22 year-old filmmaker, the youngest Australian director attending the Berlin International Festival, was overwhelmed with the response to his documentary – scoring the second most popular film among some 20,000 voters from a field of 52 films in the prestigious Panorama program.

JULIAN SHAW WINS IF INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD
Julian Shaw won the Independent Spirit Award at the 2007 IF Awards, Australia’s biggest public-voted movie awards, completing a huge month for the film after it’s double win at DOCNZ.
DARLING! THE BIG WINNER IN AUSTRALASIA’S LARGEST DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION
Darling! The Pieter-Dirk Uys Story was the big winner at Australasia’s largest international documentary competition DOCNZ in October 2007. The film scooped Best NZ Medium Documentary, and writer/director Julian Shaw was in attendance to pick up the Best Emerging Filmmaker Award.
